Tom Tom Set to Update Maps Every Day

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 02:00 AM

"TomTom was already a big player in digital mapping, and then it went and signed up to work with Apple on the new iOS maps app."

One of those trickle down benefits from working with Apple is that anyone that has a Tom Tom service will benefit from updated maps, at no charge.

Updates to the Macbook Line From WWDC 2012

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Laptops" @ 04:30 PM

"Along with updating the existing MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models, Apple has reinvented the MacBook Pro with a Retina display, as announced at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference keynote on Monday."

Thorough run through of the updates by Macworld from WWDC on the Macbook line. If that isn't enough, over at HardMac they also have a nice list of all the updates, located here. I don't plan on upgrading anytime soon from my Macbook Air 128GB SSD, but if I did, I must say the Macbook Pro line is really tempting. What are your thoughts on these updates to the line?

Apple Changes the Sort for Apps

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 09:00 AM

"James Thomson of PCalc fame noted late yesterday on Twitter that the App Store's again updated the way it deals with app sorting: 'Looks like sort by release date in [the] App Store only sorts by original release date now, not update date. Say hello to page 342 of Utilities...'"

Basically what they have done is changed the way the apps are sorted, using the original release date instead of the last date the app was updated. From what I gather, there was some abuse of this by developers, doing minor updates to get their app higher on the sort list. I'm all about fixing the abuse, but this isn't the right way. Perhaps an option to display the list you want, as in last updated, new release, etc. What are your thoughts, good? Bad?
