Can't Use Two Finger Click on Your Macbook Pro? Try This...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 02:00 AM

http://www.insignificantthoughts.co...ight-click-fix/

"In the release version of Mac OS X 10.7, there is a bug that prevents secondary click working with two-finger click on the Macbook Pro 4.1."

According to the instructions, the only way to fix this is to go into terminal mode. In Terminal run the following:

defaults -currentHost write -g

com.apple.trackpad.enableSecondaryClick -bool YES

Of course, with anything in Terminal, be very careful.

Terminal Mode in OS X Can Be Useful

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 01:00 AM

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_...d&subj=MacFixIt

"The OS X terminal is a powerful interface with your computer that can be used to script tasks, run under-the-hood routines on your system, remotely control other systems, and perform a number of other detailed and specific actions."

Several good commands to help you troubleshoot your Mac from the Terminal. If you aren't familiar with Terminal, it's found in the Applications > Utilities folder. Granted, you do have to be very careful in terminal mode, but if you are, there are several commands explained in this article that you may find useful, or you may in fact already be using them.

Get Your Momentum Back!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 08:00 AM

"If you happen to have a new Magic Mouse running on OS X 10.5, you may be disappointed to find that it lacks a feature you get with Snow Leopard: momentum scrolling."

Momentum scrolling is when you flick your finger like you do on the iPhone, and on the screen the list or page scrolls and eventually comes to a stop. To turn on this nice feature, follow the steps in this article which will require you to use Terminal. As always, be very careful, but this seems like a pretty simple fix to me.

Command Line Utilities You May Find Useful

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 11:00 AM

http://osxdaily.com/2006/11/22/ten-...not-know-about/

"The Mac OS X command line interface is home to thousands of programs that the average user doesn't know exists. Leveraging years of hard work by the GNU foundation and others in the open source community, Apple designed a wonderful OS that doesn't "need" any use of the command line."

Doesn't need the use of the command line? I would have to disagree, at times there aren't any alternatives. But I'd say for the most part that is true. I don't use the command line in Terminal very often, but it is a nice resource to have when you do need some help. I doubt most users ever get into the Terminal program, but if you have or still do, this is a list of some utilities that may come in handy.
