Manhattan and Brooklyn, Bring Out Your Dead... Electronics That is...

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Talk" @ 08:00 AM

"You got all the tech gifts you wished for this holiday season, so now it's time to bring your old stuff to Tekserve for proper disposal. Don't miss our eWaste Recycling Event, this Saturday, Jan. 15th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of our store, as well as Sunday and next weekend across Manhattan and Brooklyn."

Fans of Monte Python will recognize the reference in the title, but the point is that you can take your old electronics gear to several locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn tomorrow. Great way to get rid of that stuff that has been collecting dust, and while you are at it you can enter to win several prize drawings, one of which is a new MacBook Air 11 inch laptop. Everything to gain, nothing to lose, except for some electronic junk I suppose.

New Yorkers, Recycle E-Waste For FREE This Saturday!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Articles & Resources" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.tekserve.com/service/recycling.php?utm_source=SubscriberMail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=This Saturday: Recycle Your eWaste at Tekserve&utm_term=&utm_content=037a8fb6568648dfa86ae5ce4695fe78

"Tekserve has teamed up again with the Lower East Side Ecology Center to offer free electronics recycling on Saturday, January 16th from 10a-4p. Recyclable items include computers, monitors, fax machines, copiers, DVD or VCR players, radios, telephones, cell phones, televisions, cameras, and stereo equipment."

Pretty good deal if you live anywhere near New York City, dispose of any e-waste you might have and all for free! It's happening in front of Tekserve, 119 West 23rd Street near 6th Avenue, and the Lower East Side Ecology Center is lending a hand. Tekserve also has a nifty giveaway associated with this event. Per the website, "to celebrate the event, anyone bringing electronics to be recycled can register at Tekserve for a raffle to win a MacBook Air. All participants in the event will also receive a coupon for a $25 discount on any new current model iPod (except Shuffle) or computer purchased within 30 days after the event. Coupons cannot be combined with other offers." They are also giving participants a $25.00 USD coupon good towards any Mac or iPod (excluding iPod shuffle) from Tekserve, good until February 15th 2010.

Tekserve Updates Their Free Mac FAQ Book

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Articles & Resources" @ 08:00 AM

http://www.macworld.com/article/140...html?lsrc=mwnws

"New York City's famous Tekserve, independent Apple store and service center, has made available a new Mac FAQ book. It's available for free (if you're near Tekserve and want to stop in and grab a copy); shipping and handling cost $4.95."

This is a pretty good FAQ manual, and you can't beat the price, even if you do have to have it shipped. You can also go to the online FAQ page and peruse the updated list, which is pretty complete. If you are in New York City however, might be worth a trip down to the Tekserve store to pick up your free copy. Any excuse to go to an Apple retailer is a good excuse yes?
