Not Exactly Tough, But It's Reliable!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 02:00 AM

"Last month, warranty company SquareTrade shared the results of a study of warranty claims showing a higher accidental damage rate for the iPhone 4 than the iPhone 3GS, with the iPhone 4 having a particular propensity for cracked glass due to the fact that glass is used on both the front and back of the device."

So, as log as you don't drop your iPhone, you should be able to use it longer than any of the other phones on the list. It is, obviously, more fragile because of it's design. But that being said, looking at the accident rates it isn't that much worse than Motorola or HTC. I would have expected the accident rate to be higher.

SquareTrade Updates Their Warranty Program

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 07:00 AM

http://www.macrumors.com/2010/06/04...rranty-program/

"SquareTrade, a popular electronics warranty company offering coverage for a wide array of devices including the iPhone and iPad, has rolled out a revamped iPhone warranty program temporarily priced at $99 for two years of coverage, with a regular price of $124."

AT&T's version of this, as compared above, is quite a bit more expensive, but it also covers loss or theft of your iPhone. I guess it all boils down to what you think you will be most susceptible to, damage or theft, when you make your decision for coverage. Oh that and the big difference in deductibles and total cost!
