"A few weekends ago, I had some friends over, and we all got drunk and played Beatles Rock Band for a fun couple of hours. It was great. There really is something for everyone in the Beatles' music catalogue."

And now for $1.29 USD, you can have your pick from 24 ringtones from The Beatles catalog, including Love Me Do, Day Tripper, Eleanor Rigby and Yesterday. You can read more about it here at The Beatles website.

"Space geeks take note -- NASA has just released several audio samples of famous moments in space history for use as ringtones on your smartphone."

Head on over to this site and see the list of all the ringtones available, including sounds from shuttle missions as well as Apollo and Mercury missions. Once you get the one you like, they also offer a handy walk through guide for putting them on your iPhone. If you have an Android, the best way to do it is to get the NASA Android app here.

No More Ringtone Feature in iTunes 10

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 09:00 AM

"Mac Life notes that Apple has removed the create your own ringtone feature from iTunes 10. The feature introduced after the launch of the original iPhone in 2007 allows users to download a song from iTunes for 99 cents and then turn it into an iPhone ringtone for 99 more cents."

I never used this feature, but I never like to see functionality disappear from programs. Perhaps they found that it wasn't getting that much usage, but even if that is the case, I don't see a reason for it to disappear.

Ringtones Made Easy

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 10:00 AM

http://osxdaily.com/2009/08/08/make...gtone-for-free/

"The iPhone, iPhone accessories, and iPhone ringtones are all the rage right now, so why not make your own iPhone ringtone?"

This is a pretty simple, straightforward way to make a ringtone out of whatever sound file is in your iTunes library, be it Windows or OS X. Granted, there are other ways to do this that may be better like using GarageBand for example, but for anyone that isn't too technically inclined, this is a pretty simple method that is easy to follow.

Palm Pre Ringtone Leaks

Posted by Vincent Ferrari in "Apple Talk" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/05/2...one-has-leaked/

"The Palm Pre’s ringtone has leaked. You can listen to it now, perhaps even assign it to your iPhone 3G if you’re feeling adventurous. The ringtone announces the triumphant return of Palm, a warrior come home after years toiling in obscurity, mud and blood on its proud blade. But time has aged the warrior mightily; new men—popular, if flashy—have stepped in to fill the void he left so many years ago. No matter. Ring the bells, gather the children! Palm is here!"

I know this isn't "Palm Pre Thoughts," however, Apple and Palm have always shared a special kinship. When Palm released their first Pilots, they always included Mac capabilities. In fact, before the iPhone, many Apple folks had Treos (for better or worse).

Anyway, I remember when the iPhone's ringtone leaked a few years ago. I immediately put it on my BlackBerry Pearl and pretended it was an iPhone for a few months until it actually came out. I reckon a lot of people will do the same here.

Whaddya think, though? This one? Or Marimba? I personally like Marimba better, but this one definitely has its origins in the default Treo tone.

Your thoughts. In the comments. Please.
