"Earlier this year, AT&T lowered the subsidized price of the iPhone 3GS to $49. Now, AT&T is offering refurbished 3GS' for just $9 with a two-year contract."

You can check out the deal here at AT&T's website, but basically they are giving you a $90.00 USD credit when you sign up for a 2 year plan, which means the iPhone 3GS will cost you a whopping $9.00 USD.

iWork and MobileM Rebate Ends

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 07:17 AM

"A source within Apple has provided us with an internal memo announcing the end of Apple's long-running rebate programs for both the MobileMe service and Apple's iWork productivity suite of applications."

What does all this mean? Who knows but when stuff like this happens it usually means a change is coming to one or both of these programs. We have seen many stories about what is going to happen with MobileMe, such as iTunes cloud storage with the new data center, but the only thing we know for sure is that a change is coming!

Apple Offers Rebate for iPad 1 Buyers

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:00 AM

http://www.tipb.com/2011/03/03/appl...ne,+iPad,+iPod)

"Apple is offering a $100/£100 refund to those of you who bought a first-generation iPad, within the last 2 weeks. When the iPad 2 was revealed, we saw a $100/£100 reduction on the first-gen iPad, which is still available to buy in the Apple Online Store."

So if you were one of those not paying attention to the news and didn't realize an iPad 2 was going to be announced, and went ahead and bought an original iPad after February 16th then you get 100 bucks, or pounds if you are in the UK.

Schlage LiNK Has a Deal for You

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "The Competition" @ 05:30 AM

"Schlage LiNK works 24/7, to keep you in control of what's going on at home from anywhere. And it's completely secure, using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology, the same security used for online banking."

The monthly subscription price for the LiNK system from Schlage has dropped to $8.95 USD per month, and they throw in two months free. You can also buy annually for $99.95 USD. They also have their $50.00 USD rebate program on the starter kit going until the end of September. I like the idea of managing and monitoring several things on the homestead remotely, and they certainly are making it attractive to give this setup a try. It's on my short list.

$30 iTunes Store Credit For Your Trouble

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 08:00 AM

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-1...subj=News-Apple

"iPhone 3G S buyers are still experiencing delays activating their new smartphones, but Apple apparently wants to make it up to them."

Even though they did it better this year by offering the software a couple days ahead of the launch of the iPhone 3GS, there were still problems in the activation arena. For those customers, Apple is offering a $30 iTunes Store credit. Since there were activations in various countries, I'm not sure if this is just a US thing or it is being offered everywhere. Nice gesture on their part I think, even though a lengthy activation process has got to be annoying, and some might not feel it was worth it. $30.00 is better than nothing though right? Or do you think Apple should have done more?
