Scanner Pro Updated for iCloud Syncing

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 02:08 PM

http://readdle.com/

"The latest version, Scanner Pro 4.1, brings a completely new interface to the iPhone, focusing on the most important things to make it more streamlined and intuitive."

And now with iCloud syncing, you can see the same items on your iPhone or iPad. Great update to this handy application. I find myself using this at least once a day to contribute to my goal of going paperless. Check it out in the iTunes store.

Remarks for iPad, Take Notes And Work With PDFs

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 04:00 AM

http://www.cultofmac.com/144274/rem...-at-its-finest/

"The latest iPad app from Readdle, a company famous for its excellent productivity apps for iOS, has perfected PDF annotation and note taking on a touchscreen device."

The difference between this one and PDFPen from Smile on my Mac appears to be that this one actually is a note taking program along with a PDF annotater. Oh, and its about four bucks cheaper at $5.99 USD [affiliate link]. I also think that PDFPen is a bit more polished and has a couple of advantages namely it syncs with the desktop version and has iCloud syncing. But if you just want a standalone PDF program and like to take notes on your iPad, this one would work just fine. If you have used either program, tell us your thoughts!

PDF Expert for iPad Updated

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 12:00 PM

"PDF Expert lets you read and annotate PDF documents, highlight text, make notes, draw with your finger and save these changes which are compatible with Preview and Adobe Acrobat! Moreover, PDF Expert is the only iPad application that can fill in PDF forms!"

If you work with PDFs, this is really a handy program. Now they have updated it so you can "flatten" filled data forms after signatures so they can't be changed, something lawyers and real estate agents will find essential. What it also allows is for you to view the PDF document with any PDF reader, and it can also modify the PDF to allow annotations so email recipients can edit them. All in all very handy and it's available now in iTunes for $9.99 USD [affiliate link].

PDF Expert From Readdle Updated to v1.5

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 06:00 AM

"PDF Expert is the ultimate solution for all your PDF needs. It lets you read and annotate PDF documents, highlight text, make notes, draw with your finger and save these changes being compatible with Preview and Adobe Acrobat!"

The latest update to this program for the iPad adds the ability to put in your signature as well as fill in the fields of a scanned PDF. You can also modify documents from iDisk, Google Doc and Dropbox. You can find out more about it at the Readdle site, or go to iTunes [affiliate link]. There is also a similar app that works as a universal app for iPhone and iPad [affiliate link], however it doesn't have the ability to fill in the forms.

And what a sale it is, putting all of their applications out there for $0.99 USD each. So if you have been hesitant to give ReaddleDocs (our review) or Scanner Pro (our review) a try, now is the time to snag it, but you only have until tomorrow. You can find all of their apps on iTunes [affiliate link], and if you want to enter their contest for an iPad, head on over to the promotion website [link] and see all of the details for entering.

Scanner Pro 2.1, With Fax Integration!

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad)" @ 09:00 AM

"Readdle has announced the immediate availability of Scanner Pro 2.1, the latest version of their popular iPhone application which transforms the device into a portable scanner. The newest update introduces highly-anticipated fax integration that lets people fax scanned documents right from the iPhone for a reasonable fee."

Available now in iTunes for $6.99 USD [affiliate link], or as a free upgrade for current owners, version 2.1 adds faxing to this handy program. I've used it many times to scan documents and send to my Evernote and Dropbox accounts (it also works with MobileMe), and it works quite well. The faxing is available as an in-app purchase, cost depending on the location of the destination of your fax and it works internationally too.

Keep Shakespeare Within Reach on Your iPhone/iPod Touch

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 09:00 AM

http://www.apple.com/hotnews/

"If you're headed back to school soon, don't forget to pack a copy of Shakespeare. On your iPhone. The free app brings you the full text of all forty plays, as well as the Bard's poems and sonnets."

This was listed as "App of the Week" on the Apple Hot News site, and best of all it is a free application. This puts the complete works of Shakespeare on your iPhone or iPod Touch, and includes all six poems, 154 sonnets, 40 plays and what they say are "doubtful" works such as Two Noble Kinsmen. I don't know that much about Shakespeare, literature was not my strong suit, but if you are studying him this might be a handy app for you to have.
