AT&T Eases International Data Rates For Travelers

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 06:00 AM

"Linking to foreign data networks has always been a risky proposition fraught with big financial risks. Tales abound of American users racking up $1,000 phone bills on cruise ships at sea or while vacationing in European countries."

Well now AT&T is going to try and ease those fears by lowering the prices on their international plans. Not by much mind you, since the rates will be 120MB for $30 per month up to 800MB for $120 per month. It sure beats $1,000 though doesn't it?

AT&T Explains Changes to Throttling Procedures

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad" @ 12:25 PM

"Anyone hoping for some truly unlimited "unlimited" plans is still out of luck, but AT&T has announced some changes (or a clarification, as it puts it) to its throttling procedures today that will at least give you a bit more room to work with."

Basically, if you are on an unlimited plan with a 3G phone, you get full data up to 3GB, but then you get throttled down until the next billing cycle. If on a 4G, then you get 5GB to use before the throttling begins. This has no effect on the tiered data plans, only the unlimited ones.

AT&T Upgrades Their Pricing Plans Starting Today

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?p...articleid=30401

"AT&T* today announced new unlimited plans across all devices --including its industry-leading lineup of smartphones -- to provide more value and choice for customers who want to talk, text and surf on the nation's fastest 3G network."

On the heels of Verizon's price drops comes similar price drops from AT&T. Starting today you can switch your plan without adding time to your contract. You can either go in person to any of the AT&T stores or head over to their website and make the changes to your account. When you go to your account and click on "change rate plans" you will see what you currently pay and what your new rate is, as well as what it would cost you if you switched. I like the way they have it set up so it is very clear what you will be paying.
