2010 WWDC Sold Out

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 12:00 PM

http://www.macworld.com/article/151...l?lsrc=rss_main

"If you were planning on attending WWDC 2010 but have yet to buy your ticket, I hope you don't take disappointment too hard. Despite an April 28 announcement-just six weeks before the conference-Apple's WWDC has sold out for the third year in a row."

It only took them 8 days to sell out this year, the 3rd year in a row it has happened. Wonder when they are going to get the attention of scalpers?

"The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference 2010 will start on June 7 in San Francisco. Five days of endless code orgies and hands-on sessions for iPhone OS 4 and Mac OS X. No word on any possible Steve Jobs' keynote yet."

What kind of a WWDC would it be without Steve Jobs? You can find more info about this conference at Apple's WWDC page.

Beta Version of Microsoft Messenger for Mac 8 Released

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (OS X)" @ 11:00 AM

http://www.tuaw.com/2010/03/24/micr...dds-video-chat/

"It was several months ago when Microsoft last updated us on the progress of videoconferencing capability within Messenger for Mac; while version 7 added A/V support for corporate accounts connected to Live Communications Server, the crowd of personal users who connect to MSN/Windows Live were left out of the fun."

Well now we can all have fun with it as they have released the beta version. Messenger for Mac 8 is available now, and "it adds A/V chat, along with interoperability with Windows Messenger 2009." You can download it here, and it requires Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Intel only.

Macworld 2010

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple News" @ 07:00 AM

http://apple-investor.com/blog/2009...world-2010.html

"As a Mac-head who has attended the Macworld Expo and Conference on and off since the late 1980s, I met the announcement last December that Apple would no longer attend the event with a big, jaw-breaking yawn."

I wasn't sure what that announcement would mean for Macworld Expo but I'm glad they are still going strong. The conference runs from February 9th through 13th next year and since it really is the only conference in the U.S. that is focused on Apple, even if Apple doesn't participate like they used to do. This year they have as one of the guests Kevin Smith, the director and sometimes Silent Jay of Clerks fame, who will be hosting a Q&A about, what else, filmmaking.
