Apple Thoughts: Rupert Murdoch to Launch National Digital Newspaper

"'News Corp. Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch is embarking on an ambitious plan for a new national digital newspaper to be distributed exclusively as paid content for tablet computers such as Apple Inc.'s iPad and mobile phones,' Dawn C. Chmielewski reports for The Los Angeles Times."

I heard this on the TWiT network as well, and while I'm not a huge fan of Rupert Murdoch, I'm glad he's trying out new business models. This is the way that we find out what works and what doesn't, and while I don't think putting his content behind a paywall will really work for him, I do give him credit for at least trying. This new idea, which is to make a national digital newspaper that is only available for mobile platforms and tablet devices, is interesting, and if done well might be a model for other content providers to follow. I'll be watching this eagerly to see how it develops.
