iTunes Hacked?

"On Sunday we reported details of how one specific app developer had managed to hack iTunes users accounts and use them to purchase his own apps - making it to the top of the iTunes charts."

In that Sunday story [link] it was reported that one developer had somehow managed to get 40 of the top 50 spots in iTunes, using what they call an "App Farm," and now it turns out there was more skullduggery than initially thought. From the sounds of it, the iTunes accounts used to purchase some of these apps have also been hacked and used to purchase hundreds if not thousands of dollars of apps. The article lists some helpful tips on what to do if you have been "hacked," but one of the best things to do before buying an app is click on the developers link in the iTunes store. If it leads nowhere, pretty good odds you don't want to be buying that app! One of the other tips is to use gift cards, something we have been doing to keep us on budget, but it sounds like it is more beneficial than we realized.
