Apple Thoughts: Apple Caught Off Guard?

I would guess they weren't too upset, and probably pleasantly surprised at just how much of a demand there turned out to be for something like the App Store. Granted, there have been and still are problems, but for the most part you can't argue with the success they have achieved. Especially when you see stories like this one about the success of the start-up Tapulous.
