iPhone Now Number 2 in MarketShare, Surpassing Windows Mobile
Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple iPhone & iPod Touch" @ 08:00 AM
"FierceDeveloper reports on data from research firm comScore showing that Apple's iPhone has finally surpassed Windows Mobile in share of the U.S. smartphone market usage. The data is based on monthly user surveys averaged on a quarterly basis, and thus reflects actual handsets in use rather than sales of new devices."
You can checkout the report and the data they used to draw their conclusions on the Fierce Developer site, but the quick and dirty is that according to comScore data 36 million in the US are smartphone owners and 25% of them use the iPhone. Rim is still number one with 40% of the smartphones, and Windows Mobile has dropped to just over 20%.
