Push for Your Twitter Client
Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 08:00 AM
"Today Polar Bear Farm released Tweet Push, an application that pushes new tweets to your iPhone or iPod touch."
I am not able to keep a desktop/laptop client open all the time at work, so being able to respond timely to a tweet directed at me doesn't usually happen. On a good day, I'll be able to see it 3 hours after it was sent. I've looked at several twitter clients, and even the twitter page, to try and get @jeffcampbell tweets sent to me by SMS, but I've only been able to do it with direct messages.
I might not be looking in the right place though, or just haven't found the right iPhone app to use. So I was interested Tweet Push when I heard about it, especially since it already works with several twitter clients (Twitterfon, Twitterific, Tweetie and Twittelator). Then I read more about it. While it may work and only cost $0.99 US, you also have to pay for the use of the service. That is something I'm not too interested in, but it might be something others will pay for. You get first 30 days of use free, then you pay for 30 day chunks of time at $0.99 US per each 30 day period.
There is also another option, $1.99 US in the app store called "Boxcar", which is a dollar more than TweetPush but doesn't have the usage fee's. Problem with this app is that it only works with two programs: Tweetie or Twitterific. So I may give this one a try and learn to use Tweetie, and go out of my comfort zone that I have with Twitterfon. If you use twitter, what do you use to get your tweets?
