Apple and Psystar Finally Heading to Court

"Apple wanted Psystar back in court, and now it's going to happen. An automatic stay of proceedings imposed when Psystar filed for bankruptcy in May has been lifted by the court, according court documents shared with CNET News."

The stay was lifted on Friday last week, by Southern District of Florida U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert A. Mark. What this means is that Apple is finally allowed to pursue Psystar in the copyright infringement case. The way Apple got it lifted was by agreeing not to collect any monetary damages against Psystar if Apple won the case, since Psystar is still involved in bankruptcy proceedings. Not that they would have been able to get any money from Psystar anyway, from the sounds of their financials based on previous stories, they didn't have much left in the bank.

It seems the big push is to get a win here so Apple will have a precedent to go after the other companies that are making Mac clones such as RussianMac (selling in Russia) and PearC (selling in Germany). Oh and there is also upstart Quo Computers selling in Los Angeles. Sounds like this could go on for years, or more likely these companies go out of business before they even get to court. Seems to me only hackers or people that want to experiment with different operating systems would be interested buying a clone. Much more than that and they would make a hackintosh themselves wouldn't they? I don't see these companies succeeding. I buy Apple because of the quality of ALL the components and how they work together, not just the OS. Without the innovative Apple hardware to go along with the OS it really isn't the same experience. At least that is my line of thought, what do you think?
