iBooks, Is It All That?

"January's education event was a big hit for Apple. Within days of releasing iBooks 2.0 and introducing its e-textbook framework, the company has seen rapid public adoption and overwhelmingly positive critical praise."
I think it's long overdue for a revamping of the scam of the textbook, so I was overjoyed to see Apple rattle the cages so to speak with iBooks. That being said they do have a bit of work ahead of them and this analysis hits the nail on the head, usability. You have to be able to take notes, highlight and so on, or at least that is how I learned and I don't see that changing for students. There is also the landscape mode orientation that it seems to be preferring, whereas I for one (and it appears I am not alone) prefer portrait mode when reading on the iPad. I suppose these things can be overlooked with minor tweaks, but interesting analysis nonetheless.
