Find My iPhone Feature Free With iOS 4.2

"The Find My iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) feature is now free to use without a MobileMe℠ subscription and helps you locate your missing device.* The Find My iPhone app is a free download on the App Store℠ and lets users easily locate a missing device on a map and have it display a message or play a sound. Users can even remotely lock or wipe data from a lost device to protect privacy."
Now you don't even need a MobileMe subscription to take advantage of the Find My iPhone app, which was one of the main reasons I kept my subscription to the MobileMe service in the first place. I guess I will have to re-evaluate my needs when it comes to MobileMe. I like the me.com email address and the iDisk functionality as far as backups, but there are so many options out there now it doesn't seem financially wise to spend $99.00 USD ($149.00 USD for family plan) for the service. Or even spend the discounted amount when purchased through Amazon.com. How about you, are you considering dropping MobileMe?
